As we write this, the fallout from Brexit is already being felt with a number of significant political changes, a substantial weakening of the pound and the promise of further uncertainty for many months to come. Much of UK accounting and taxation regulations are influenced or governed by EU law so regardless of the pending negotiations it will take a number of years for the full extent of these changes to be seen in practice.

Meanwhile however, most business continues as usual. As August draws to a close we are already marching rapidly towards January 2017 and therefore the 2015/16 tax return filing deadline. If we have not already had the appropriate tax information from you we would ask you to arrange this as soon as practical. As much as anything else, the sooner we have your information the sooner we can advise of any pending liabilities (or claim any refunds arising).

For those of you who are not already aware, we are also pleased to note Thomas Robinson has recently been promoted to a manager. As a home-grown talent it is always good to see staff progressing their careers internally and we're happy to report Thomas is already settling into his extended role well. We were also recently successful in the local accountancy firms' go-karting challenge achieving not only an excellent first place but also our B-team only just missing out on second place by a matter of seconds. Despite many years' admirable racing, unfortunately Arthur has been retired from the A-team for poor performance - it is a sore subject for him so please don't mention it!
