Goldwyns News

Welcome to the "Autumn" issue of our newsletter. At the time of writing we are still waiting for the Summer to arrive and still damping down after the floods! The Olympics are over but there are still lots of hurdles to jump with the rules and regulations that keep on being introduced or more actively enforced by HMRC. We have seen a hardening of the Revenue's attitude and even those of the Taxes Tribunal as is demonstrated by the article in our newsletter of a penalty being applied to a pensioner who made a simple mistake when filling in her tax return for the first time! There are some areas that can be helpful including the special tax allowances for Research and Development and, schemes for small charities to ease the way that they can claim "Gift Aid" on small donations

For those of us who are looking for tax efficient investments we also outline various schemes which could be useful.

We hope you will find something of interest.

At Goldwyns we see new trainees, Ben and Devon who have embarked upon an accountancy career with us. We wish them every success towards achieving their goal.
