Goldwyns News

Welcome

The weather may be getting colder and the cost of keeping warm getting higher – these we cannot avoid- but you can avoid costly penalties and time by making sure that you file returns and make payments to HMRC on time.
In this issue we highlight the tax return penalty regime and the cost of making payments of payroll taxes late – these can be expensive and could be avoided. We also look at the HMRC "Initiatives" that target particular trades or professions to collect taxes on undeclared income or profits. Most of these have a period when taxpayers can "come clean" and avoid some of the penalties.

The new pension regime is with us and Auto-Enrolment has already started for some. This will affect nearly every employer and should be considered carefully. We look at what is involved and what you need to consider.

All is not gloom – if you made a PPI claim the compensation may be tax free, and if you work from home – are you claiming all that you can? We look at both these areas.

The New Year is likely to continue to be challenging. At Goldwyns we are here to help clients by providing solutions matching their needs in this changing economic environment.

Charity is especially important at this time of year so will be repeating our policy and of making a donation to Barnardo's, in place of sending Christmas cards.

We wish you all a happy and healthy 2013.
